Audio-Technica Introduces Artist Series Vocal Microphones

Audio-Technica announces three new vocal mics as part of its next generation of the Artist Series live sound microphones. The company has capitalized on its 40-plus years of transducer design to create the new Artist Series — adding innovative microphones to the line, while upgrading classic models for a comprehensive selection of vocal, instrument and drum mics. The three new Artist Series vocal mics include the ATM410 cardioid dynamic microphone, ATM610 hypercardioid dynamic microphone and ATM710 cardioid condenser microphone.

The new A-T Artist Series mics were inspired by extensive market research and consultations with leading touring artists and FOH engineers who rely on these microphones on stage every night. Satisfying their foremost concerns, these rugged mics are engineered for consistently flawless performance with low-distortion characteristics to faithfully reproduce the details of virtually any sound source.

The Artist Series vocal microphones set industry standards for intelligibility, detailed reproduction and noise suppression. These new models offer a broad frequency response and extremely low handling noise in attractive, durable designs.

ATM410 Cardioid Dynamic Vocal Microphone
This cardioid dynamic is designed for smooth, natural vocal reproduction and low noise. Equipped with a Hi-ENERGY® neodymium magnet for high output, and a multi-stage grille design for excellent protection against plosives, this durable microphone is built to stand the rigors of the road night after night. Its cardioid polar pattern reduces pickup of sounds from the sides and rear, maximizing isolation from other sound sources and minimizing feedback. The microphone has a frequency response of 90-16,000 Hz. Featuring all-metal construction, the ATM410's output is via a low-impedance, 3-pin XLRM-type connector. In addition, the ATM410 measures 6.69" long, has a maximum body diameter of 2.11", weighs 8.2 oz., and for secure mounting comes with Audio-Technica's AT8470 Quiet-Flex™ stand clamp for 5/8"-27 threaded stands; a 5/8"-27 to 3/8"-16 threaded adapter is provided. The ATM410 also comes with a soft protective carrying pouch.

ATM610 Hypercardioid Dynamic Vocal Microphone
Tuned for clear, detailed, extended-range reproduction of lead and backup vocals, the premier Artist Series dynamic vocal mic is equipped with a rare earth Hi-ENERGY® neodymium magnet, a tight hypercardioid polar pattern and multi-stage grille design. The hypercardioid polar pattern further reduces pickup from the sides and rear providing excellent isolation of the desired sound source. The ATM610 microphone employs an innovative dual-wall floating construction — the back-cavity assembly "floats" inside the handle shell, providing outstanding isolation from handling noise. With a frequency response of 40-16,000 Hz and output via a low-impedance, 3-pin XLRM-type connector, the ATM610 also features all-metal construction for added durability. The ATM610 measures 6.97" long, has a maximum body diameter of 1.89", weighs 9.9 oz., and for secure mounting comes with A-T's AT8470 Quiet-Flex stand clamp. The ATM610 also comes with a soft protective pouch.

ATM710 Cardioid Condenser Vocal Microphone
The new ATM710 Artist Series vocal condenser microphone is tailored for exacting detail and high-fidelity vocal reproduction. With a condenser design for studio-quality performance, the ATM710 features a Hi-ENERGY neodymium magnet for high output, and excels in venues with controlled stage volume or in-ear monitoring. The microphone delivers remarkable clarity; it is equipped with an integral 80 Hz hi-pass filter that provides easy switching from a flat frequency response (40-20,000 Hz) to a low-end roll-off position that reduces the microphone's sensitivity to popping in close vocal use. The ATM710 has a switchable 10 dB pad that lowers the microphone's sensitivity, providing higher SPL capability. The microphone's cardioid polar pattern reduces pickup of sounds from the sides and rear, improving isolation of the desired sound source. Output on the ATM710 is via a low-impedance, 3-pin XLRM-type connector, the microphone's all-metal design is constructed for years of trouble-free use. The ATM710 measures 7.05" long, has a maximum body diameter of 1.97", weighs 9.7 oz., and comes with A-T's AT8470 Quiet-Flex stand clamp. Like the ATM410 and ATM610, the new ATM710 also comes complete with a soft protective pouch.

The new Audio-Technica Artist Series vocal microphones are available immediately with U.S. MSRPs as follows:
ATM410 Cardioid Dynamic Vocal Mic — $169.00
ATM610 Hypercardioid Dynamic Vocal Mic — $249.00
ATM710 Cardioid Condenser Vocal Mic — $299.00
