PRESS RELEASE

Audio Professionals Receive Free Hearing Screenings At AES Convention

October 1, 2007

At the 123rd AES Convention, House Ear Institute will provide hearing conservation education and screenings to thousands of Audio Engineering Society (AES) members through its Sound Partners hearing conservation education program. The Sound Partners program is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of safe sound practices for better hearing health among audio and entertainment professionals and the listening public. The AES is a longstanding industry partner of the Institute and its Sound Partners program, providing facilities and space at its convention since 1997. The screenings and other hearing health information will be available during show hours in Booth 576 at the AES Convention, from October 5 through 8 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York, NY.

Licensed audiologists will be available to counsel participants on their hearing screening results, which are kept confidential. The Institute's outreach staff will offer additional hearing health education, literature and free hearing protection. Shure Incorporated is again serving as the exclusive sponsor of the House Ear Institute's hearing screenings as part of its Listen Safe program, which is dedicated to educating musicians, audio professionals and consumers about how to enjoy sound responsibly. The screenings and hearing health information provided at AES and other pro audio and entertainment industry events are a part of the Institute's Sound Partners program. The complimentary materials offer information on noise-induced hearing loss, hearing protection devices, conservation practices, as well as general hearing health education, including other forms of hearing loss, tinnitus, ear diseases and related disorders.

"Since we first began working with AES to provide hearing conservation education to its members, we have observed a dramatic increase in awareness among audio engineers about the importance of protecting their hearing," said Marilee Potthoff, marketing director, House Ear Institute.
