PMC Spotlighting MB2S Medium-Format and IB2S Three-way Midfield Cabinets at AES Convention

During the 125th AES Convention, which opens here today and runs until October 06, PMC — The Professional Monitor Company — will be focusing attention on two of its most popular reference monitors for music studios, broadcast facilities and post suites: the IB2S Three-way Midfield Cabinet and the MB2S Medium-Format Cabinet. "The MB2S is perfect for mid-sized control rooms either soffit mounted or on its custom studio stands," says Maurice Patist, PMC USA's President of Sales and Marketing. "The MB2S allows higher sound pressure levels without distortion and loss of definition normally associated with a device of its size."

The distinctive MB2S includes the PMC 75 mid-driver that has taken the limits of soft-dome design and construction to its ultimate conclusion. A Radial™ low-frequency driver allows massive controlled excursions and avoids the effects of power compression, by cooling via its cast alloy exoskeleton and new rear vented magnet. As with all PMC models, a matching MB2S-C low-profile center channel and XB2S subwoofer for surround configurations are available.

"The PMC IB2S Three-way Midfield Cabinet is based on the extremely successful IB1S," Patist continues, "but features the PMC 75 soft-dome midrange driver for higher definition and clarity, as well as the 250 mm PMC Carbon Fiber/Nomex™ LF piston driver and fabric soft-dome HF unit." The IB2S-C is a specially designed center channel variant that allows for surround configuration while maintaining the excellent dispersion and sonic performance capabilities of the PMC IB2S series.
