Allen & Heath Launches DP1000 and DL1000 ICON Digital Mixers

September 26, 1998Allen & Heath has launched its ICON Series, an all-new range of compact digital mixers for live sound applications. The first two models in the range are the ten-input/four-output DL1000 and a powered version, the DP1000, which comes complete with a 600W (into 4ohm) stereo power amplifier. Both mixers will begin shipping in October.
The DP1000 and DL1000 each feature six mic/line inputs offering four-band EQ with fully parametric mids, plus two dual stereo inputs which can double as mono mic inputs. In addition to the LR output, ICON consoles provide configurable AB amp outputs, plus monitor, aux and LR recording outs.
The primary target markets for the ICON Series are performing artists and live sound venues. Users can program and pushbutton or MIDI control. This pre-programmed sequence can be overridden when required. A special Pause patch sets levels, effects and more for between song requirements.
Key settings, such as gain, levels and mutes, are on dedicated controls for instant access, including 100mm faders for all inputs and main outputs. Other console settings are created and adjusted via a strip of rotary controls used in conjunction with a large backlit LCD screen, eliminating the need for complex menus.
The consoles' onboard dual ten-band graphic EQ and amplifier configurations are stored separately in Venue memories for reduced setup times. ICON consoles also include two built-in effects processors, with over 80 adjustable presets, plus noise gates and compressors.
