PRESS RELEASE

Drawmer Dynamics Processing Now Available for Mackie Digital 8*Bus

October 3, 1999

Mackie Designs and Drawmer have announced two dynamics packages for the Digital 8*Bus. The first version will include Drawmer's industry standard frequency conscious gating, plus compression and limiting. An advanced version will add Drawmer's well-known "Peak Punch" algorithms and further innovations.

With twenty years of experience designing dynamics processors, Ivor Drawmer's products are world renowned among mastering engineers and anyone with an appetite for high quality noise gates and compressors. According to D8B software guru Bob Tudor, it's an addition D8B owners will greatly appreciate. Tudor admits, "D8B has noise gates on board, but only very basic ones. We've been beat up a little bit, in fact, for not offering ducking, frequency-conscious triggering, keying from other channels, and 'Gate Hold,' the kinds of things customers have come to expect from Drawmer. All I can say is, we listened!"

Ken Giles, Director of Sales at Drawmer, comments, "The Mackie D8B is the first mixing console in the world to incorporate Drawmer dynamics. The inclusion of our advanced dynamics processing package will particularly appeal to engineers contemplating using the D8B for recording real drum kits, and is instrumental in making the D8B an even more powerful modern music production tool."

A $399 Mackie UFX card is required for plug-in operation. One UFX card can run up to four plug-ins. Up to four cards may be installed in the Digital 8*Bus for a total of 16 simultaneous 3rd party plug-ins.

Plug-in prices and a ship date for the Drawmer D8B plug-ins were unavailable at press time.
