TC Electronic Plug-In Card for Yamaha PM1D
Mixer
September 26, 1999
TC Electronic and Yamaha proudly announce their collaboration
to produce a powerful TC Electronic effects processing plug-in card for use in
the new Yamaha PM1D digital mixing console. This alliance will allow TC Electronic's
highly-acclaimed digital effects processing to be fully integrated and controlled
from within the PM1D mixing system.
"Yamaha is an established leader in digital mixing consoles" says
TC CEO Anders Fauerskov, and continues "We are pleased to announce a continuation
of the highly successful co-operation with Yamaha we established with the TC UnitY
card. This time we have been brought into the development process before the console
was finished, and therefore been able to take integration of plug-in processing
to an even higher level than ever before possible on a mixer."
Terry Holton, of Yamaha R&D in London, who was among the innovators of
the UnitY concept, comments: "After seeing what possibilities and flexibility
UnitY added to the 02R console, it was really an easy decision to follow the same
path with PM1D." He continues "TC Electronic is a recognized leader
in digital signal processing, and with the recent product releases it is obvious
that the company has tremendous possibilities to offer the live sound, theatre
and broadcast markets at which the PM1D is aimed".
The new plug-in card will provide PM1D users with a wealth of stereo effects
and other signal processing options in tailor-made software packages. These will
include a multi-effects package containing delays, chorus, pitch-change, phaser,
distortion, reverb etc.. another package will focus specifically on a selection
of TC's high-quality reverbs.
More software packages are under development, some of which are expected to
be from 3rd party companies. Several software plug-ins may run simultaneously
on the multi-engine structure of one plug-in card, and the PM1D console supports
multiple cards on one console.
Thomas Lund, program manager at TC Electronic, comments: "We have focused
on making this plug-in card truly integrated with the console. Full sessions can
be stored and recalled, and yet we have maintained the easy to use TC philosophy
we apply to all our products. The user won't have to spend time to learn how to
operate both a mixer and outboard devices."
The card will be distributed by TC Electronic.
