Birth
of a Better SoundBASSLINE
SpeakerLiners (Trademark Registered and Patent Pending) January
1, 1995You
can buy a pretty good violin for around $1500, or you could drop a cool million
on a Stradivarius! (bow not included) Why? After all, they're just sound boxes...
right? Wrong! Unlike the rounded contours of a finely crafted instrument, speaker
systems with parallel interiors force up to 30% of the original sound through
the cabinet walls, while the remaining 70% exits the system distorted. The
solution? BASSLINE SpeakerLiners! An easy to apply Wave-Form lining that puts
the round back in sound. How does it work? BASSLINE SpeakerLiners prevent
sound wave migration though speaker walls and eliminate standing wave distortion
by allowing stern and keel, port and starboard waves to mingle. This type of acoustic
efficiency can only be produced in an environment that allows total Wave-Form
integration. BASSLINE SpeakerLiners are made from pure cellulose fiber,
panels measure 11.5" x 5.7" x 1" and come in flats of 100 and up
. They retail for 50 cents per panel and are designed to distribute acoustic energy
evenly within speaker cabinets. Simple to install, full instructions with your
sample order. BASSLINE insulation is an acoustics product applied to the
inside of any speaker cabinet to improve bass performance. This insulation produces
three-fold results. Firstly, the application of this product to the speaker cabinet
walls lowers their resonant frequency and reduces sound wave travel through the
walls of the speaker cabinet. Some estimates say that up to 30% of total
sound emanating from a speaker system is through the walls of the enclosure. Second,
the insulation works to improve the overall performance of the speaker, by reducing
the effects of standing waves inside the cabinet, by defusing them, as apposed
to just absorbing them. ie. dissipating the energy produced by the back wave as
heat, in a material such as fiberglass insulation. The force of the back wave
(usually tuned by the port to a frequency lower than that produced by the front
wave) is allowed to join the force of the front wave without some of the degrading
artifacts produced by the standing waves in the cabinet. The third benefit
is it gives cleaner more powerful midrange with increased harmonic resonnance. The
bottom line is BASSLINE Insulation is effective, inexpensive and simple to apply,
resulting in better efficiency and tighter low end. This insulation produces best
results when used with ported enclosures. To sample BASSLINE insulation you can
order this product by the panel for 50 cents per under a 1000 units-over 1000
units, 40 cents per unit. Each panel measures 11.5" X 5.75" X1". For more information, visit www.basslinear.com. |
