SPIRIT Live 4 Mark II Console

July 14, 1995Spirit is introducing the second generation of its popular Live 4 mixing console at this year's summer NAMM show in Nashville, Tennessee. Designed for front-of-house PA and small recording studio applications, the Live 4 Mark II incorporates numerous features previously found only on Soundcraft's professional front-of-house desks.

Available in five frame sizes--12, 16, 24, 32, and now 40 mic channels--the Spirit Live 4 Mark II provides enough channels for the most demanding yet budget-conscious bands. The upgraded console features a 10x2 A/B Matrix output derived from the four subgroups, including Mix, while four full-featured Mute Groups are provided to aid engineers with "difficult" cues or accommodate supporting acts. The board's front end has even been improved with the addition of a Phase Reverse switch on every mono input, ideal for use with numerous drum mics , and Spirit's new "Ultramic Plus(TM)" preamp which provides improved sound quality and an incredible 66dB of gain range. This extended range enables the preamp, without a pad, to accommodate anything from line-level electronics to distance mics while maintaining plenty of headroom and gain. A custom-designed pot for the mic preamp additionally allows the board to retain a low EIN of -129dBu (at 150 Ohms).

Other upgraded features of the Live 4 Mark II include: four-band EQ with two sweepable mids on mono inputs; EQ In/Out; six Aux sends with a choice of up to four pre or post fader; Aux 4 pre/post switchable from Master section; and separate -10dBv outputs for recording applications.

Like its predecessor, the console features four stereo inputs (except for the 12 channel model, which has two) and four additional stereo effects returns. Direct outputs are offered on every mono input. High Pass Filter, individual +48V Phantom Power switching and Talkback facilities are also provided. An eight channel expander module is available for 12 and 16 channel models, while the 12 channel version may also be rack-mounted. End cheeks are removable to reduce road case size. As with all Spirit consoles, the Live 4 Mark II sports a rugged build designed to handle the abuse of even the roughest days out on the road.

The Live 4 Mark II is offered at the following suggested prices:

12 channel - $1999.95
16 channel - $2999.95
24 channel - $3999.95
32 channel - $4999.95
40 channel - $7299.95
