TUBE-TECH Ships MEC 1A Tube Mic-Pre/EQ/Compressor April 6, 1998
TUBE-TECH is now shipping the new MEC 1A, single
channel, all tube based Combo Mic-Pre/EQ/Compressor. One of the more
important features built into the MEC 1A is it's ability to reverse the
order of the equalizer and compressor, allowing the engineer to equalize
before or after compression, according to Ed Simeone, Managing Director of
TC Electronic U.S. - Tube Tech's North American Distributor.
The MEC 1A Microphone Preamplifier features 48 volt phantom power, phase
reverse, a low cut roll-off filter, -20 dB pad, and 1/4" unbalanced
high-impedance input.
The 3-band equalizer offers both high and low shelving at six frequencies,
and a band filter at twelve frequencies (bell type). A separate in/out
switch is provided for both the EQ and the compressor and use a clickless
relay.
The compressor is derived from TUBE-TECH's well known Opto Compressor gain
reduction element and is linkable for stereo applications. It provides
variable attack and release and compression ratios of 1, 5:1 to 10:1. The
unit's VU meter can be used to show compression or main output level.
"The MEC 1A continues TUBE-TECH's vintage standards of transformer coupled
ins and outs and no semi-conductors in the signal path, just classic tube
design," said Simeone. "It is the perfect single piece solution for the
engineer looking for the ideal path to tape."
The MEC 1A is a 2-rack space unit and weighs 12lbs. MSRP: $3995. For more information, visit TC Electronic at www.tcelectronic.com. |
