QSound Labs Announces Support for Digital Audio Labs' V8 Realtime Studio System

QTools/V8 to Run in Realtime on V8's DSP Supercharger Architecture

May 12, 1998Digital Audio Labs, makers of the V8 realtime studio system for the PC, and QSound Labs, world leader in 3D audio technology, are proud to announce the development of three realtime V8 compatible plug-ins featuring the patented Qsound(tm) 3D sound encoding process.

QTools/V8, a suite of 3D digital audio processing software plug-ins, transforms mono and stereo audio channels into a virtual surro und soundfield creating music and sound effects that appear to originate well beyond the physical limitations of two conventional speakers.

With the announcement of QTools/V8, V8 users will be able to run multiple, realtime channels of Q123, QX, and QSYS on the V8's modular hardware DSP Superchargers. And with the V8 approved version of QTools, owners of any V8 approved applications will be able to take advantage of the realtime power of this remarkable product.

"This gives a tremendous realtime boost to QSound facilities," commented Ted Klein, president of DAL. "Our user base has been asking for a V8 approved version of the QSound plug-ins for a long time...we're very happy QSound has joined the V8 family."

"We are very pleased that Digital Audio Labs chose QSound as an integral part of the V8 realtime studio system," said David Gallagher, President and CEO of QSound Labs. "This relationship further represents QSound's ongoing initiative to maintain leadership as the 3D audio solution of choice for the professional audio industry."

The V8 is a set of cards and rack mount peripherals that turns a PC into a multichannel digital audio recording, editing, and mixing studio. A fully loaded V8 system is capable of up to 16 channels of disk playback, over 32 channels of realtime automated mixing, 16 channels of I/O, and dozens of simultaneous realtime effects. Software to operate the V8 is available entirely from third party application and plug-in developers. System pricing for the V8 starts at $2500 plus software.
