Allen & Heath has released a major upgrade to its DR Series software, WinDR, the system manager package used to set up DR128
and DR66 digital installation mixers. The manufacturer's in-house software team has added a number of valuable new features, including partial
patches, automatic mic mixing, network control capability, and additional EQ processing ability.
In previous versions of WinDR, the user could save up to 16 patches in the DR unit. Each patch reconfigured all the audio processing elements of the
unit, including entire matrix levels, channel processing elements, ducker and delay settings. WinDR Version 2 will allow the user to configure not
only full patches as before, but also partial patches, allowing the user to save only the elements needed, giving greater control over elements within
patches and allowing true zoning control. Resources are used more efficiently, seriously increasing the DR unit's functionality. Creating, editing,
saving and recalling patches is all achieved using the software's new 'Patch Manager'.
Other additions to the software include fully functional automatic mic mixing, allowing automatic microphone control in conference situations;
network control, enabling control of several DR units from a remote location via networked PCs; channel muting, channel naming, greater soft key
