March 22, 2001Yamaha Corporation of America, Digital Musical Instruments,
introduces the RS7000, a complete desktop studio that answers the needs of modern music production. With unique and powerful features, an intuitive interface and virtually every parameter available for real-time manipulation, the RS7000 (MSRP $1,795) offers the "hands-on" immediacy necessary for todays cutting-edge music.
Perhaps the most unique function is the ability to seamlessly integrate audio and MIDI data. Users may import samples from a variety of formats, sample actual sounds from external sourcesor even re-sample the internally sequenced sounds of the RS7000 itselfto instantly create new audio loops and phrases. The Integrated Sampling Sequencer (ISS) automatically breaks the samples into discrete parts (based on amplitude peaks and divisions of time) and generates a corresponding MIDI sequence. Audio beats of differing tempos may then be synched together and processed using MIDI controls to change the Tempo, Swing or any other musical parameter controllable by MIDI, plus the same filters and parameters as the internal synth voices.
"The RS7000 is designed to meet the demands of the ever-expanding Remix, Hip Hop and home studio production markets," states Athan Billias, marketing manager, Digital Musical Instruments. "The RS7000 is more than a desktop studio. It offers complete control over a production, from start to finish."
The unit features 4MB of onboard sampling memory (expandable to 64MB), a 64-voice tone generator containing over 1,000 onboard ROM-based synth voices, 63 drum kit sounds and six types of filters. The Integrated Sampling Sequencer features 16 tracks (each track can be either MIDI or Stereo Audio), 200,000 notes, and up to 8,192 individual audio samples.
Eighteen assignable knobs and two pads provide subtle or radical real-time control over sounds, samples and MIDI sequences. The RS7000 contains three system effects, plus a separate Master effect with a multi-band compressor, Slicer, Isolator and other DJ-style effects. The unit also features MIDI IN/OUT/THRU functions, a SCSI interface and SmartMedia card for convenient storage of sample memory. For more information, visit their web site at www.yamaha.com. |
