New Optimizations Improve Native Renaissance Reverb and C4 Performance
August 22, 2001Waves has posted updated versions of some plug-ins with the version 3.2.1 release, which focuses on improving the performance of native processor-based plug-ins, specifically the Renaissance Reverb (Mac and PC) and C4 MultiBand Parametric (PC only).
The revised version of Renaissance Reverb for the Mac has been heavily optimized for the PowerPC processor, offering improved efficiency of up to 30%. The improvement is not based on the G4's Velocity Engine (Altivec), so all PowerPC-based Mac users should benefit.
For Windows users, there are new versions of both Renaissance Reverb and C4. This 3.2.1 update is certified for use on Intel CPUs only. AMD K7-Athlon users should get better performance with Renaissance Reverb, but not with the C4. Before updating on a non-Intel system, Waves recommends keeping a backup copy of the version 3.2 plug-ins.
These optimized versions are offered at no extra charge to current users of Renaissance Reverb and C4 3.x and require no reauthorization or re-registration.
