November 3, 2002

Event Electronics has announced the availability of the Tuned Reference 5 and Tuned Reference 8 Biamplified Direct Field Monitoring Systems. The monitors couple a new high-efficiency amplifier design with time-tested technology handed down from the company's award-winning 20/20bas and Project Studio models, giving rise to the next generation of Event's monitoring.

The name Tuned Reference comes from the monitors being precision <tuned> to provide flat frequency response and uncolored sound, thereby giving the user a true sonic <reference> for mixing. The design ensures that mixes created on a Tuned Reference monitor will translate accurately to other playback systems.

"Throughout the course of Event's history, we've steadily refined our designs, pushing the costs of our monitors increasingly down," noted Event president Ted Keffalo. "We're able to price the Tuned Reference series low enough that virtually every musician has access to professional reference monitoring without busting their budget."

"In recent months, the market has been flooded with cheap speakers manufactured overseas using off-the-shelf consumer hi-fi components," Keffalo continued. "Thanks to a very clever design, we were able to dramatically reduce our manufacturing costs and remain competitive. Best of all, for a very low price, the end-user gets to have a custom-designed, pro-quality, accurate reference monitor, instead of something best suited as a door stop. We're very proud of the Tuned Reference monitors. They're an excellent example of American ingenuity at work."
