Beano Boost Treble/Full Range Booster from Analog Man
May 15, 2003
The new Analog Man Beano Boost is based on the 1960s Dallas Rangemaster,
which was used by Eric Clapton, Brian May, Tony Iommi, and many others to
give a treble boost to their dark British amps. On the John Mayall Blues
Breakers album (nicknamed "Beano"), Clapton got his influential,
ground-breaking tone by cranking his '60 Les Paul sunburst, through the
Rangemaster, into a 2 x 12" Marshall combo. This is still one of the most
popular and sought after of all guitar sounds.
The Beano Boost is not a distortion pedal nor a clean boost; it pushes your
amp, allowing it to create rich tube distortion. The pedal colors your tone
with a crunchy overdrive, boosting certain frequencies; and the NOS germanium
transistors add warmth to the overall sound. The Beano Boost is hand-built,
one at a time.
