Allen & Heath's Offers Additional Stereo Inputs on ML Series February 18, 2004
Allen & Heath's ML Series of VCA live
sound mixing desks has been further extended with new 'B' Option models,
offering an increased stereo input channel count. The ML3000 range has also been further enhanced with the addition of
a 48 mono + 2 stereo input configuration frame to the existing 24+2, 32+2,
and 40+2 input frame options.
Following on from the success of the ML5000 stereo options, launched during
2003, further stereo option models of the ML4000 and ML3000 have also been
introduced. The new 'B' Option for each console in the ML Series now offers
an additional 4 or 8 stereo channels, fitted in place of mono input modules,
to handle multi-stereo source applications.
In addition to the standard input module
count, 2 dual stereo channels providing mixable A & B inputs with gain,
4-band EQ, and mono summing are also fitted as standard in every ML Series
console.
The dual function ML Series offers full functionality at FOH or stage
monitor position. GRP/Aux Mode switches allow engineers to reverse the group
fader and aux rotary master sections to provide a combination of aux sends
and audio subgroups on fader masters with inserts and full metering.
Additional features include 4 or 8 audio groups; 8 VCA groups; 8 mute
groups; 8x4, 11x4 or 12x8 Matrix fed from the groups, LR&C and external
input on rotary controls; and LCRplus panning, allowing any signal
positioning across the C and LR busses. The ML5000 and ML4000 include 4-band
EQ plus HPF 'Responsive' feel with separate controls for sweep and
cut/boost, plus Q on midrange. The swept HPF covers 20-400Hz.
Show automation supports up to 128 snapshot memories of VCA assignment/mute
'scenes' which can be up/down loaded via MIDI/RS232 to 'Archiver' software.
In the master section, the Engineer's Toolbox includes phones, wedge and
local monitor controls; talkback to all outputs; -20dB 'dim' when TB active;
PFL trim control; pink noise and oscillator; balanced direct outs on
channels; 2TRK; and LR&C monitor selection with mono check.
