Seer Systems(TM) to Support Be(TM) Operating
System
March 5, 1999 Seer Systems,
Inc. the developer of music software for Pentium® PCs has announced its support
of the Be Operating System (BeOS). Seer System products, such as Reality(TM)
and SurReal(TM) allow computers
to become fully operation professional quality music synthesizers.
"We look forward to much higher levels of performance with BeOS,"
announced David Roach, Vice President of Operations for Seer Systems. "We
have wanted to do this for quite a while, to give support for multimedia, content
developers, graphics artists and other high level production professionals.
BeOS offers us a wonderful addition to our Pentium-based users. This greatly
increases our potential market and gives these high end users another tool for
their projects."
Using the five most popular synthesis methods, Reality and Surreal allow computers
to play 64 or more simultaneous notes of up to 16 different sounds and instruments
with very low latency. This aids computer usage for music performance and composition,
scoring, sound effects, game sound development, sound design and many more applications.
In addition, SeerMusic lets users put streaming multichannel audio on the Internet
with faster download times and significantly less compression. In addition to
BeOS support, Reality, Surreal and Seer Music currently work with Pentium based
PCs running Windows 95 or 98.
"I would compare Seer's software synthesis quality to any hardware synthesizer
out there," said Timothy Self, Vice President of Developer Relations at
Be, Inc."Seer products running on the BeOS will open up new possibilities
in music, audio and media for creative content developers. They perfectly complement
the other media authoring tools coming onto the Be platform."
