TC Electronic UnitY Now Shipping July 10, 1998
In cooperation with Yamaha Corp., TC Electronic announces the first shipment of the new TC UNITY, the first effects plug in card for the Yamaha O2R digital recording console. The O2R automatically senses the card when it is plugged into any one of it's four I/O expansion slots. This activates complete display and fader access to all of the preset and editing screens designed specifically for the TC UNITY, according to Ed Simeone, Managing Director of U.S. Operations.
The TC UNITY features two independent 24 bit mono in/stereo out signal processing engines, with a wide variety of TC quality effects on-board including - Reverb, Chorus, Delay, Pitch Shifter and more. Sends to the UNITY can be routed from O2R Aux sends 1-8, group 1-8, or Main L/R stereo bus, and UNITY effect outputs can be summed as one stereo effect output or remain discrete.
"Yamaha has been very cooperative in helping us to develop the UNITY processor card for the O2R", said Simeone. "TC quality signal processing made available directly within the digital console environment provides an exciting alternative work atmosphere for our clientele. Taking the intuitive and ergonomic user interface within the O2R and adding TC Electronic effects into the mix creates a very powerful combination for both Yamaha and TC customers."
"We are pleased TC Electronic has chosen to produce this wonderful enhancement to the O2R," commented Yamaha Professional Audio Product Manager Peter Chaikin. "TC is highly regarded in the professional market for the quality of their digital effects. O2R customers will be delighted to have the additional sonic polish and functionality the UNITY card offers"
The TC UNITY will be available in two configurations - one with an 8 channel AES/EBU digital I/O SubD25 connector, and one without. The connector allows for access to the O2R's 4 stereo AES/EBU I/Os on the expansion slot occupied by the UNITY card, and uses the same cabling as Yamaha's own AES/EBU I/O cards. Upgrade packages will be made available for cards sold without the digital I/O option at some time in the near future.
O2R requirements - A new TC-compatible O2R Version 2 operating system kit is included in the UNITY package, including software installation instructions and documentation for owners upgrading from non TC-compatible versions.
The TC UNITY card is expected to begin shipping through TC Electronic authorized dealers in Spring 1998 at a retail price of $1,495 w/digital I/O, $1,195 without. Eight channel digital I/O upgrade retail price - $395. For more information, visit their web site at www.tcelectronic.com.
