Fender Announces Hot Rodded P-Bass®
July 24, 1999
Fender's Hot Rodded American Standard series will witness
anew addition this summer with the introduction of the Hot Rodded P-Bass(R).
A versatile instrument for professional musicians and P-Bass enthusiasts,
the new Hot Rodded P-Bass is sure to make a great impact when it is unveiled
at this year's NAMM show in Nashville.
Designed
with the working bassist in mind, the new Fender Hot Rodded P-Bass could
quite easily becomes Fender's most popular professional level bass. With
its newly designed P/J pickup configuration, this new bass has the versatility
of both the Precision Bass and the Jazz Bass. That means no more switching
instruments back and forth between songs! Simply switch to the American
Vintage split-coil pickup for the sound of a P-Bass, or the new Hot Vintage
J-Bass pickup for the growling sound of a Jazz Bass, and there you have
it: two distinctly different sounds from the same bass.
To be produced at Fender's very own state-of-the-art manufacturing facility
in Corona, California, this bass comes equipped with the modern features
that today's serious pro expects from a top-quality instrument. Depending
on color choice, the Hot Rod has an alder or ash P-Bass body ($150.00
additional for ash), and a modern P-Bass maple neck with graphite reinforcement.
The fingerboard has a 9.5" radius, with 20 medium-jumbo frets and
"dot" position markers. The Hot Rodded P-Bass has 2 volume controls,
one tone control, combination top load/string-through-body bridge and
a side-mount jack. It comes with a brown shell pickguard, Fender Super
Bass 8250M strings, and a hard-shell molded case. Color options include:
3-Color Sunburst (alder), Olympic White (alder), Black (alder), Natural
(ash), or Sunset Orange Transparent (ash). Please note, the left handed
bass comes only with the rosewood fingerboard. United States MSRP is $1,249.99
for right handed models, and $1,349.00 for left handed models.
