New Sony CD Changer And Minidisc Recorder/Player
Introduced July 26, 1999Sony Electronics today announced the introduction of the CDP-CX300, a
300 disc CD changer, and the MDS-JE630 MiniDisc recorder/player for the
audio professional.
The CDP-CX300 features a keyboard for text entry and Sony's MegaStorage(TM)
capability for access of up to 600 CDs from remote control with two systems
linked together. Featuring advanced 1 bit pulse converters, the CDP-CX300
is a qualitative as well as a quantitative advance in CD player technology,
with a sound quality equaling its cavernous storage capacity.
"For AV professionals at post facilities, stock music houses, production
companies and advertising agencies that work with extensive music libraries,
a cost-effective, efficient random access tool such as the CDPCX300 will
help to increase productivity and perhaps even creativity as a broader
range of selections can be repurposed quicker and easier," said Paul
Foschino, marketing manager of professional audio products for Sony Electronics'
Broadcast and Professional Company.
The MDS-JE630 replaces the Sony MDS-J520 and adds new 24bit converters
and the latest generation of ATRAC (Type R) for CD-like sound quality.
New editing features, including A-B erase mode, allow "razor-blade"
type edits. Also included, are an "S-Link" type interface for
computer-software based editing and control access. The MDS-JE630 also
offers Advanced Time-Shift recording, for capturing intro portions of
broadcast material often missed when engaging the record button, and playback
pitch control.
"For a MiniDisc recorder/player, priced at this level, to offer
24-bit converter quality is a remarkable advance in the evolution of the
MD format," said Foschino.
The CDP-CX300 CD Changer and the MDS-JE630 MiniDisc recorder/player are
scheduled to be available in late August, both at a suggested list price
of $360 For more information,
