CreamWare Releases Pulsar for Mac

February 3, 2000

Winter NAMM 2000, CreamWare presents the MacOS version of its highly acclaimed Pulsar DSP system.

Being available for the two main computer systems, Pulsar is now the cross-platform system it was always intended to become. The Mac version is, except for different drivers, functionally identical with the Windows version. All existing modules which are available for Pulsar can be loaded on both platforms.

This applies likewise for all plug-ins from 3rd party developers such as Waldorf, SPL and Sonic Timeworks and as well as for the more than 70 freely available modules which have been created by SCOPE users. The new devices which CreamWare has introduced recently, such as the SB 404 Synthesizer, EDS 16i Analog Drumsynth, GraphEQ/s equalizer package and the Arpeggiators are also compatible with Pulsar/Mac. The only exception is the STS-4000 Sampler: this device requires a future version of the Mac software which will be available as a free update shortly.

The cross-platform compatibility allows projects started in one version to be continued in the other. Crossgrades between Windows and Mac versions are free of charge.

The Pulsar audio DSP card features four of the fastest available SHARC DSPs and provides a total of 20 inputs and outputs, including 2 x ADAT, stereo S/PDIF and stereo analog. 24 bit/96 kHz are supported and drivers for ASIO, EASI, MME, DirectSound and OMS are included.

Pulsar comes with a large software suite that utilizes the power of the on-board SHARC DSPs. Modules shipping with Pulsar include a fully-featured 32-channel digital mixer, a line of synthesizers (including a Modular Synth with more than 120 modules), an AKAI-compatible sample player with more than 64 stereo voices and a full array of effects.

Pulsar/Mac system requirements: G3, 300 MHz, 128 MB RAM, MacOS 8.6 or higher
