Fostex Upgrades Digital Accessories to
Accept 24-Bit, 96 Khz Signals
February 10, 2000
Fostex recently upgraded its DP-8 and COP-1 with
the introduction of the DS-8 digital patch bay and COP-1/96k optical converter.
"The proliferation of DVD and high-end sound cards has created a huge
market for products offering a 96 kHz sampling rate," says Phil Celia, director
of sales for Fostex Corporation of America. "The new DS-8 is an upgrade of
the DP-8 offering a wider sampling frequency range, from 32kHz to 96kHz, with
selectable bit rates of 24, 20, 16 and 12. The COP-1/96k is the replacement for
the original COP-1 and offers a cost-effective 96 kHz solution. These devices
bring the latest advances in digital technology to the consumer at an affordable
price."
The rack-mountable DS-8 offers eight inputs and eight outputs. Six of the
inputs and outputs are optical S/PDIF, while the remaining inputs and outputs
are coaxial with RCA connectors. The simple COP-1/96k offers one optical S/PDIF
in/out and one coaxial RCA in/out.
