Shure Incorporated today unveiled its PSM 400 Personal Monitor System and the P4M Personal Monitor Mixer at Winter NAMM 2000. Shure's PSM 400 and P4M are two ground-breaking and affordable products that make it possible for working musicians to gain control of what they hear on stage by creating personal, in-ear monitor mixes.

The PSM 400 provides an alternative to traditional floor wedge monitoring and shares the hallmarks of Shure's family of high quality, professional PSM systems used by touring artists worldwide. A short list of performers who have adopted Shure PSMs include Beck, Roger Daltrey of The Who, Korn, Christina Aguilera, The Judds, Barenaked Ladies, Tom Jones, and Sheryl Crow.

The new system, like its predecessors, offers: a personal mix free of unwanted stage sounds; individual volume and balance controls; a freedom of movement that releases performers from standing in only one spot on stage; and an ease of portability far greater than bulky floor wedge monitors. Furthermore, the PSM series, when used properly, can aid performers in hearing conservation. These many benefits are further enhanced by the P4M mixer, which brings complete control of the in-ear mix right to the stage.

"Personal monitors have been so incredibly successful that you rarely spot a touring performer going onstage without being plugged into earphones, " said Steve Johnson, Vice President of Marketing for Shure Incorporated. "As the market leader, we knew it was time to create a more affordable version for the working musician."

The release of the PSM 400 and P4M Mixer is anticipated this spring and are offered both as personal performance packs and as individual components. The PSM 400 Wireless Personal Performance Pack includes a receiver, transmitter, E1 earphone, and P4M Mixer. The hardwired version consists of a body-pack monitor, E1 earphone, and P4M mixer. Individual components include: PSM 400 Wireless Receiver, PSM 400 Wireless Transmitter, PSM 400 Hardwired Personal Monitor, P4M Personal Monitor Mixer, and E1 Single Low Mass/High Energy™ Driver Earphone.
