Opcode's MIDI Solution for Windows January 18, 1996Opcode Systems, Inc. announced its MIDI system solution for the Windows(TM) platform.
Vision, Galaxy, OMS, and MIDI Interfaces
This integrated system includes Vision 2.5 MIDI sequencing software, Galaxy the Universal Librarian, and Music Quest MIDI interface hardware. It also includes the industry standard OMS (Open Music System), which facilitates effortless interfacing to PC sound cards, MIDI hardware and multitrack recorders.
"The acquisition of Music Quest was Opcode's first step in entering the PC market," said Chris Halaby, Opcode's CEO. "Bringing Vision, Galaxy, and OMS to Windows completes the system and gives professional musicians a choice of platforms. Opcode plans to be in the Windows market for the long run."
Vision 2.5:
Vision delivers an extensive set of musical, intuitive tools. Familiar tape recorder-like controls and user-configurable mixing consoles make music creation quick and easy. Vision also gives users the ultimate in flexibility allowing them to choose between pattern or linear based sequencing, or a combination of both-- record tracks in real time, step-entry or even drum machine-style loop recording.
Vision's Track Overview window displays individual track data with detailed, colorful blacks, providing an elegant method of transforming your ideas and riffs into songs. Easily move or copy any phrase with a mouse click; instantly open Vision's Notation or Piano Roll window for more specific tweaking. All of the edits are performed in real time so the music never has to stop.
Open Music System 2.0: OMS is the cross-platform standard for MIDI management that helps define studio setups by providing a detailed description of the user's MIDI studio. OMS can auto-detect MIDI interfaces, sound cards and instruments connected to the computer. It can also test MIDI input and output, and graphically display and edit your MIDI setup on-screen.
Galaxy 2.0:
Galaxy the Universal Librarian is intelligent patch management software that stores, retrieves, and catalogs synth sounds. Thanks to OMS integration, patch names can be accessed in Vision with unprecedented simplicity that allows the user to view patches by name or number, and even group
by bank or keyword.
Music Quest 8Port/SE:
Music Quest is an Opcode brand of PC compatible MIDI interfaces. The 8Port/SE is the premiere MIDI interface for all IBM compatible notebook, laptop, and desktop computers. The 8Port/SE offers eight independent MIDI ports to drive 128 channels, complete SMPTE support for multi-track tape and audio/video applications, and full patchbay operation when not used with a computer.
Vision 2.5, Galaxy, and the Open Music System 2.0 for Windows 95 will be available in March 1996. For more information, visit their web site at www.opcode.com. |
