January 16, 1997Applied Research and Technology is proud to introduce the Dual Levelar Professional Vactrol/Tube Leveling Amplifier, a dual channel leveling amplifier and the newest addition to the A R T Vactrol Compressor line.
Similar in design philosophy to classic tube limiters, the Dual Levelar utilizes a VCA-less design for premium performance. The Dual Levelar's design features an electro-optical (Vactrol) and vacuum tube electronics which deliver vintage sound without added noise. It is this circuitry combination that gives the Dual Levelar its warm, vibrant sonic flavor reminiscent of classic compressor/limiters. The Dual Levelar is as simple to use as a contemporary compressor.
As with classic compressors, it levels out the signal as opposed to altering the complete dynamic range. The Dual Levelar provides the fast, punchy and transparent characteristics of the "LA-" type levelers (due to very fast attack and release response times), and a finely tuned auto setting which behaves more like vintage stereo Neve modules --providing a smooth, loud, and fat sound.
The Dual Levelar gives the user the convenience of having two Levelars in a single rack-sized unit,
with the added bonus of an internal power supply.
