A R T's Dual Tube EQ Now Shipping January 28, 1999 Applied Research and Technology (A R T), manufacturer of quality tube
dynamics processors, is now shipping the Dual Tube EQ.
The Dual Tube EQ is a two-channel, tube-based parametric equalizer. Each
channel features a four band precision frequency network intended to give
users finer control over musical instruments and vocals. The design also
allows users greater flexibility than what is typically found in budget
mixing consoles. The frequencies and Q were selected and tuned by several
top recording engineers to excel with instruments which typically require
equalization: kick and snare drums, toms, guitar, vocals, bass, etc. Its
unique Cascade mode configures the Dual Tube EQ as a single channel, eight-band
parametric.
The keys to the Dual Tube EQ are frequency selection, wide bandwidth
and the hand selected 12AX7a tubes. The low (40Hz or 120Hz) and high (6KHz
or 18KHz) shelving features are tuned to add low end "wallop"
and delicate "air." The two mid frequency bands sweep from 20Hz
to 20KHz and overlap between 200Hz and 2KHz. The bandwidth (or "Q")
is intentionally wide to provide a musical quality when cutting or boosting.
The vacuum tubes, used for gain, provide a smoothing effect when driven
with separate input and output level controls. Detented rotary controls
are provided for precision tuning.
The Dual Tube EQ features a custom extruded 1U rack chassis with an internal
power supply and carries a three-year warranty.
