ENSONIQ Supports ASIO Format For PARIS
HardwareASIO Drivers Allow Integration Of PARIS
Hardware With Popular MIDI/Audio Software Applications January 28, 1999ENSONIQ has announced support of Steinberg's ASIO driver format for PARIS®
hardware. This is a milestone for the PARIS hard disk recording system
in that it allows PARIS audio hardware to be used with any NUDI/audio
recording software that currently supports the ASIO driver format.
ENSONIQ plans to offer ASIO drivers for PC and MAC platforms in the first
quarter of 1999. ASIO drivers will be included in all shipping versions
of PARIS systems, and will also be available to existing PARIS users as
a free download from the ENSONIQ® web-site at: www.ensoniq.com.
"Supporting the ASIO driver format is significant in that it allows
PARIS to integrate with digital audio sequencing applications from leading
software manufacturers," states Salvatore Perla, PARIS product marketing
manager. "This will allow PARIS to appeal to a wider range of potential
customers, many of which already use MIDI software with ASIO support."
PARIS hardware as a front-end for multi-channel recording and playback
ASIO drivers allow the users of many popular MIDI sequencing/audio
recording software packages (from companies like Steinberg, Emagic and
many others) to use PARIS hardware as a front-end for multi-channel recording
and playback of 16-bit or 24-bit digital audio. Users will be able to
choose from three different PARIS interfaces, including the highly configurable
PARIS Interface MEC (Modular Expansion Chassis), which offers optional
8 channel, 24-bit balanced input and output expansion modules.
Audio stream input/output architecture
ASIO (Audio Stream Input/Output Architecture) was developed by
Steinberg to overcome the "stereo only" record/playback limitations
imposed by multimedia applications and computer operating system developers.
ASIO allows recording and play back of high resolution, synchronized,
multi-channel digital audio with very low latency. For more information, visit www.ensoniq.com. |
