HHB Announces Circle 3 Compact Studio Monitor
January 28, 1999With HHB's active and passive Circle 5 monitors already a huge international success, HHB has announced
the further expansion of the Circle range with the release of two new desktop monitors, the active and passive
Circle 3s.
The compact and cost-effective new Circle 3 combines a highly linear, custom designed 5.5" (140mm)
bass/mid driver with a ferrofluid cooled soft domed tweeter. Despite standing just 10.6" (270mm high), this
diminutive monitor packs an extraordinary punch, with exceptional detail and accuracy both on and off axis.
Early listening tests suggest that the Circle 3 outperforms other speakers of a similar size and looks set to
become an industry standard nearfield monitor design.
A controlled order crossover ensures the same, untiring sound characteristics as the Circle 5. Indeed, an
important feature of all Circle monitors, both active and passive, is the consistent sonic signature across the
range, making it particularly easy to configure an HHB Circle surround sound monitoring system to match every
budget and application.
The active Circle 3's input is on balanced XLR or unbalanced RCA phono (switchable), and the amp pack uses
low noise semiconductors, 1% precision resistors and heavy duty power supplies with long life capacitors to
deliver 60 watts program to the mid/bass driver and 30 watts program to the HF unit. Unlike some active
monitors, there is no LF amplifier limiting which can lead to an unbalanced sound at high volume levels. To
protect its drivers, HHB prefers to build drive units robust enough to take the full power of the amplifier in the
first place.
Commenting on the expansion of the Circle range, Sales Director, Steve Angel said: "The launch of the active
and passive Circle 3 desktop monitors demonstrates HHB's clear commitment to establishing a full range of
high quality, low cost professional studio monitors." For more information, visit HHB on the web at www.hhb.co.uk. |
