Mackie Introduces M800 Premium Power Amplifier

January 28, 1999 Mackie Designs Inc. (Nasdaq: MKIE)
today announced the introduction of the new M800 FR(TM) Series premium power
amplifier. The M800 provides premium quality sound and reliability and offers
a flexible set of usable features at an affordable price. The M800 is also the
newest member of Mackie's highly successful FR Series power amplifier family.
Mackie's introduction of the M800 rounds out the Woodinville, Washington manufacturers
family of premium grade, professional-quality, full-featured power amplifiers.
To date, the line includes the M1400, M1400i and the newly released powerhouse
amp, the M2600.
The M800 is destined for local and regional club bands, small-to-medium club
and concert PA systems, DJ applications for installed and mobile facilities,
small-to-medium houses of worship, theater installations, and musical instrument
amplification applications (bass, keyboards, guitar).
Key features and power ratings of the M800 are as follows:
- Ultra low noise and distortion,
- Premium, FR Series Fast Recovery design providing superior control over
clipping when the amp is driven to extremes,
- Distortion less than 0.005%, 20Hz to 20kHz,
- 130dB dynamic range,
- Ultra-low noise design,
- Two 2nd order, 12dB/octave, Bessel low-cut filters with variable frequency
from Off to 170Hz,
- Constant Directivity Horn EQ/Air EQ with variable frequency from 2kHz to
6kHz and On/Off switch,
- Limiter with On/Off switch (decreases distortion that may become present
when the amp is driven at max levels without affecting overall sound levels),
- XLR thru outputs,
- 1/4" jack and 5-way binding post outputs,
- Easily handles 2-ohm loads all night long,
- Superior T-Design cooling,
- 5-year warranty,
- 2 rack spaces.

800 watts @ 4 ohms bridged
550 watts @ 8 ohms bridged
400 + 400 watts @ 2 ohms stereo
275 + 275 watts @ 4 ohms stereo
140 + 140 watts @ 8 ohms stereo
The M800 is planned to begin shipping to local domestic Mackie dealers in March,
'99.
