the development of the multi-award winning AudioSystem EWS64 range of products,
TerraTec Electronic GmbH are pleased to announce the immediate availability
of the latest member of the family, the EWS64 XXL. As the name suggests, this
is the new flagship of the product range and includes the AudioSystem EWS64
L sampling and hard disc recording card together with the amazing new Digital
Xtension microWAVE PC, jointly developed by TerraTec and Waldorf.
The EWS64 L card is also featured in the AudioSystern EWS64 XL and provides
analog stereo input and four channel output with 18-bit conversion and a signal
to noise ratio in excess of -93dB together with a full spec 64 note polyphonic
sampling synthesizer as well as full multimedia compatibility including SoundBlaster(TM),
SoundBlaster(TM) Pro, MicroSoft(TM) Sound System and hardware acceleration of
DirectSound(TM) and DirectSound(TM) 3D. The on-board sampler comes with 6 Mbytes
of dedicated RAM as standard and can be expanded up to 64 Mbytes with the addition
of a single 72-pin SIMM.
The Digital XTension microWAVE PC module is designed to fit in a standard 5
1/4" drive bay and houses S/PDIF coaxial and TOS-Link optical digital audio
inputs, 2 independent 20-bit S/PDIF coaxial digital audio outputs, 2 independent
sets of standard 5-pin DIN MIDI IN and OUT sockets, a stereo 1/4" headphone
output socket and WaveBlaster(TM) compatible daughterboard connector. Most important
of all, the module also contains all the dedicated DSP processing power of the
awesome Waldorf microWAVE XT synthesizer.
The microWAVE PC synthesizer is a full industrial strength 'electronic instrument
with 8 voice multitimbrality, 10 note polyphony and individually programmable
arpeggiators for every voice. Real time MIDI control of all parameters include
the ability to synchronise the arpeggiators and LFOs to external MIDI equipment
such as sequencers and drum machines. The microWAVE uses true wavetable synthesis
as first developed for the memorable PPG Wave in the early eighties. This technology
is brought up to date using the latest DSP hardware resulting in an amazing
fusion of old and new, the bread and butter of creative musicians worldwide. The end result is the TerraTec AudioSystem EWS64 XXL.
TerraTec has a policy of providing fully specified product and to this end
we have included a wealth of software and sounds to enable the user to be up
and running 'Out of the Box'. Bundled software includes Steinbergs Cubasis AV-XL,
our own Ed!son instrument editor and Ed!son Wave sample editor, microEd!t (a
Windows(TM)95/9 representation of the Waldorf microWAVE I I / XT front panel
with identical functionality right down to the LCD, switches, knobs and MIDI
activity LEDs) and a host of useful music shareware programs and commercial
